    Cuban “Picadillo” Sloppy Joe!

Popular in Cuba, as well as the Philippines and Puerto Rico, Picadillos are similar to a beef hash or a Sloppy Joe, with chopped beef, tomatoes and other assorted regional ingredients. Raisins add a sweet note against the saltiness of Nations Best® Corned Brisket. This works well with Nations Best® Pastrami, Corned Beef or Turkey, too. Serve with traditional black beans and fluffy rice, or in a taco or on a bun.

    • 1 Tbsp olive oil
    • 1 c chopped onion
    • 2 Tbsp minced garlic
    • 3/4 c tomato sauce
    • 1/2 c dry white wine
    • 1 lb finely-chopped Nations Best® Corned Beef Brisket
    • 1/2 c pimiento-stuffed olives, chopped
    • 1/4 c drained tiny capers
    • 1/2 c golden raisins
    • Salt & freshly-ground black pepper, to taste
    • Cooked white rice, for serving
    • 2 Tbsp chopped fresh cilantro leaves, for garnish

    1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onions and garlic and cook, stirring, until softened, about 10 minutes.
    2. Add the tomato sauce and wine. Simmer, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened, about 15 minutes.
    3. Add the brisket, olives, capers and raisins. Simmer until the liquid is nearly evaporated, about 15 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Serve hot over rice and garnish with chopped cilantro.
