The Godfather Sicilian Baked Tongue Casserole

The richness of the Nations Best® Tongue in this recipes balances beautifully with the onions and capers; while the beef broth adds moistness. This casserole can be baked in individual appetizer ramekins or served in ready-to-heat, entre portions.

Meat Suggestions

Ingredients

  • Butter, for greasing
  • 1 c breadcrumbs
  • 2 c diced cooked Nations Best® Corned Beef Tongue
  • 1 tsp grated onion
  • 1 tsp drained tiny capers
  • 1 Tbsp chopped flat-leaf parsley
  • Salt & freshly-ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 beef broth
  • 2 Tbsp unsalted butter

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Lightly butter a shallow casserole dish. Scatter 2 tablespoons of the breadcrumbs over the bottom.
  3. Combine the diced Tongue, onion, capers, parsley, and salt and pepper and spoon over the breadcrumbs. Drizzle the broth over the top and dot with butter.
  4. Sprinkle with the remaining breadcrumbs. Bake for 20 minutes. Serve immediately.
